Background
After studying Natural Sciences at Cambridge John worked in oil exploration. He was responsible for producing seismic surveys across remote and sometimes dangerous desert regions.

When he finished his travel and adventures in the oil industry, John joined PwC, where he had over twenty years’ experience as a management consultant and OD practitioner. He specialised in Leadership, Board Effectiveness and Complex Problem Solving. He remains an associate at The Difference, PwC’s creative problem solving unit and an advisor to the PwC Deals Leadership Team.

He has delivered hundreds of leadership training events around the world, and published ideas and practice in the European Management Journal, Ashridge publications and with Wolff Olins.


Qualifications
John has completed a research MSc in Management (Distinction) at Bath University. His research was based on bringing unconventional ideas and practice from the fringes into the mainstream of strategy and leadership. He is also an accredited by the BPS to run various personality assessments as well as MBTI and FIRO:B. John also has an advanced diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapy.


Facilitation experience and credentials

John works extensively with systems and helping people find effectiveness amidst complexity, anchoring leadership development in the ‘real work’ of business and teams, often by identifying and amplify productive difference. He is the founder of a dispute resolution company and has a citation for an annualised saving of $1m from a two day leadership retreat. He is also a keynote speaker and retreat leader


Examples of recent work
Over the last two years he has worked with many multi-nationals, government agencies, the Royal College of Art, ten start-ups and two NGOs. The focus of all of this work has been to build leadership capability while solving complex problems.
